To cope with anti-dumping tariffs set by the US Department of Commerce, the Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA), on behalf of Taiwan-based crystalline silicon solar cell and PV module makers, hopes to talk with the department about setting floor pricing for PV products exported from Taiwan to the US in place of anti-dumping rates, according to TPVIA.

Viewing that the European Union (EU) planned to impose anti-dumping and anti-subsidy rates on PV modules imported from China but later the China government and EU reached a consensus to set a floor price and an annual quota for the EU to import China-made PV modules in place of the tariffs, TPVIA hopes to follow suit, the organization said.

Exports to the US account for 10-20% of Taiwan-based makers' total shipments, TPVIA said. Some Taiwan-based makers hold the opinion that a reasonable floor price would be the average market price in the US plus 12%, TPVIA indicated.
